Do you Twitter?

I do and I LOVE IT! It's so much fun to send quick bite size messages to the web. When I was home on vacation a few weeks back I had no access to the Internet so instead, I Twittered.

And Flickr'd too.....

I sent messages and pictures from my cellphone when I was within range (which unfortunately wasn't very often) and had a great time continuing to keep in touch with everyone.

If you do Twitter, check me out over here at whatsaboytodo, follow me and I'll follow you back, you should really try it.

But really the reason that I'm twittering is that half of the cast of Mad Men are following me on Twitter. I saw the other day that someone wrote that she had a Twitter page Peggy Olson so I jumped over there and checked it out and "followed her"

Well within two days I was suddenly being followed by three more castmembers - Don Draper, Joan Holloway and Bobbie Barret....whooo hooo.....perhaps I'm getting famous...LOL!!!

So then I started thinking about it really the actors that are doing this Twittering or is it an intern that has a script sitting in front of them and they're instructed to send out messages at certain times from certain characters to create an online webisode of sorts....another storyline.

I don't watch Mad Men - because we don't have cable, but I know the show is about Ad Executives in the 60's.....which I find hilarious because they're using a technology that from the 21st century that hadn't even been thought of when this show was set...Yes I know the technology was there in some stage, but people had never heard of the internet and had no concept of even a home computer....yet here they are keeping in touch with us via a not yet invented technology....

If you do Twitter, check me out over here at whatsaboytodo, follow me and I'll follow you back!

Shhhhh....wanna know a secret?

I wanted to tell you something.....shhh....don't let anyone know, but I think you might be part of a Class Action Lawsuit.

If you're in the US and you owned a credit card anytime between January 1, 1987 and May 28, 2008 I am happy to announce that you could be an eligible participant in a Class Action lawsuit against TransUnion. Whoo hoo....ok, stop screaming, it's not that much...but it's something and that's all that matters.

Yeah can you believe it, you actually won something and you didn't even know you entered a contest. Well apparently TransUnion violated some state laws and Federal Laws a while back, the biggest one being the Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”) because they sold lists containing all of your personal data and banking/consumer information to third parties for marketing purposes. Marketing purposes....I wonder what that means? Oh you mean junk mail purposes.

Now that you've calmed down, you're probably wondering "What's in it for me?" Well "Eligible Class members" (uhm, that would be YOU) may be able to sign up for credit monitoring or other benefits from the settlement.

Here I'll just let you read it yourself:
"The six months of credit monitoring services (which retails for $59.75) include: (1) the ability to lock your credit report so third parties, such as lenders or other companies, will not be able to access your credit report without your consent (unless allowed by law); (2) unlimited daily access to your Trans Union credit report and credit score; and (3) credit monitoring with a 24-hour email credit notification service. The nine months of enhanced credit monitoring services (which retails for $115.50) includes all the services listed above, plus a suite of insurance scores and a mortgage simulator service. If youget the enhanced credit monitoring you will not be able to get a payment from the settlement or start an individual lawsuit."

Did you get all of that:
- You now have the ability to "lock" your credit report.
- Unlimited DAILY access to your credit report AND SCORE (You can get your FICO for free)
- 6 months of credit monitoring services
- And some other tools

So go check it out over at:

And hurry you only have until September 24th to sign up.....hurry......hurry!!!!!

This past weekend my friend Gregory and I went to a local street festival to check out the boys and hopefully grab a bite to eat.....well we didn't do either, but we did go to the festival.

On the way home I stopped at the grocery store to pick up ingredients that I would need to make some ice cream that I had promised to make for a party I was going to later that evening.

As I was standing in the spice aisle looking for a vanilla bean, a girl walked up to me, looked at me and smiled and then said "Do you know so and so?" I looked at her and said, "Yes I do!"

Then she starts out "Didn't you make a video of the Taste of Chicago? I've seen your video it was fabulous, in fact a friend of mine used it in one of her film classes." I asked her if it had been used as an example of "Don't dare ever do this." But in fact it was used as an example of "live documenting" wow....a video of mine was used as an I'm scared!

We talked for a few more minutes and I told her that I had just been to a street festival, had filmed our trip there and was actually on my way home to make ice cream and to edit the footage. I got her email address and promised I would send her my YouTube channel (yeah I didn't have cards on me because I wasn't carrying my murse).

After she left I finally found the vanilla beans (none of that artifical stuff) and one single lone vanilla bean was $13.78.

Let's just say those bitches got Bryers instead of homemade stuff!

No, I still made the ice cream but I used that real fake vanilla stuff instead, it wasn't worth $14 for a single bean!

I got

Glenwood Arts Festival

Chicago is the city of festivals (well in the summer that is) and since we have 8 months of winter here, we make sure that we enjoy all the summer we can. And that means every weekend there is some kind of street fair, street festival, food festival, art festival or something going on.

This past weekend was the Glenwood Arts Festvial in the Rogers Park neighborhood.

My friend Gregory and I trekked up to the neighborhood to check things out, so I put together this little video for you.....

Oh yeah, there was also this great drum performance, I only caught a few minutes of it, but they were a great ensemble, check them out:

Oh yeah, and while I was there I got to meet another Blogger - the infamous Woody from over at Woody's Journal he's also the co-owner of Evil Squirrel Comics (which just happens to be on Glenwood). Now I get to add him to my list of "Bloggers I've met in Real Life" so you should stop over and see him as well.

A new phone scam?

So I just saved $120 annually on my phone bill by calling up and telling them I wanted to cancel my service, you should try it as well.

One of the reasons that I wanted to cancel my landline phone was that it never gets used, except by telemarketers or my Best Friend. Whenever the phone rings it's one or the other and I always answer it in my "I'm foreign" to throw off solitors and well to throw off my friend too.

The other day the phone rang and when I looked at the Caller ID, it was my own telephone number that was could that be?

I remember when I was a kid we had a built in intercom system with our phones. We had several phones located across our property (we lived on a few acres and had several outbuildings) and if we dialed our own phone number and then hung up, it would immediately ring if someone was in the garage or barn they would answer it and then you could pick up the phone and talk to them, pretty cool huh? But it doesn't work any longer, I tried it when I went home to visit : -(

Regardless, I'm looking at my phone and reading my own phone number I was confused so I answered the phone, but this time in my regular voice because I was afraid it was INS or Homeland Security calling. I said hello and immediately a female voice started in on a sales pitch......i let her catch a breath - which was hard to do and asked her to put me on their Do Not Call list - she immediately hung up on me and I had no way to call them back and complain.

Is this the new way for telemarketers to get around the requirement of putting people on the Do Not Call list? It sounds like it to me, if there's no number on the caller ID, how could I even call to complain.

Sneaky sneaky sneaky.....

Oh yeah, when we went to Sam's Club this weekend and as we were exiting there was some woman there asking if she could "talk to us for a few minutes about replacement windows for our home." I looked at her and started crying saying "OMG, our house is going into foreclosure, how could you be so cruel?" She just stared as we pushed our cart out to our waiting car.

I just lowered my phone bill!

As you may recall, earlier this year The Roommate and I decided to dump cable. In another cost cutting episode today, I decided that I have had enough with the landline and that I was going to cancel my phone service - but keep my super slow DSL connection.

So I dials up AT&T and politely ask to cancel my phone line but keep my DSL, she informs me that even though I'll be cutting $25 off of my phone bill, the cost of my DSL is jumping up by $15 because I'm no longer a "combo customer."

"What what what?" I said, and sounded all dejected that I really wasn't going to be saving any money at all and I'd be down one more service. The nice lady at AT&T said "Well, if you're looking to lower your bill, I can take $5 off your phone service and $5 off your internet service for a year."

So I saved $120 in a matter of 10 minutes and got to keep my landline and DSL service.

You should call and threaten to leave too....maybe they'll give you a discount!

Excuse me waiter - there's a Tapeworm in my fish

How would you like that inside of you? Well that's exactly what a Chicago man is claiming was inside him...

Apparently a guy ate a Salmon Salad at a restaurant here in Chicago in 2006 and it grew into a 9 foot long tapeworm.

Two years after the event, the guy is now suing the restaurant (Shaw's Crab House in case you were wondering) and it's parent company (Lettuce Entertain You) for $100,000 claiming that it was their fish was infected with the tapeworm.

So who wants to go to lunch?

A friend of mine just sent me a text to inform me that there are Hot Boys in Underwear at the corner of Bryn Mawr and Winthrop, right near the Starbucks.

Apparently they're shooting an underwear ad or something because there are hot boys all over the place.

When my friend went over to ask if he could join in they all laughed at him and threw their Starbucks cups at him....fortunately for him, they're models so they were only filled with water and not calorie filled hot coffee!

So if you're in the area, go take pictures, I want to see
Hey! I'm just getting all set up here, why don't you visit my blog over at for all the latest dirt.

They've ruined Clue

Well Hasbro has gone and done it....first they did it with Monopoly by getting rid of the paper money and forcing everyone to use credit cards to do their transactions. Just making future kids now have no idea of the concept of money - just charge it!

But now they have has gone and fucked with the classic game - Clue.

I can understand the need to "update" a game to make it more relevant, but the reason that some of these games are classics is because they were unchanged and yet they were still fun to play.

Hasbro has decided that it's time to make the game more relevant, make it more accessible to the kids growing up now and more familiar with them. I mean who has a conservatory or a library in their house now? I know I don't (I never did) but it was still fun to think of a house that did have those things.

First they updated the characters - everyone gets a first name now, no more formality for you! The new names are: Kasandra Scarlet (a tartlet actress who's always in the tabloids); Jacob Green (now an African American, with "all in the ins" what exactly does that mean??); Jack Mustard (no longer a colonel but now a football player); Victor Plum (downgraded from a Professor to a Video Game designer - granted he probably makes more money now); Eleanor Peacock and Diane White fill out the rest of the cast.

They retired some of the weapons: the lead pipe (I guess it's bad to whack someone over the head now); the revolver (shooting is overrated - plus it makes a lot of noise); the wrench (not really needed unless you're a plumber); and they added some new weapons: the dumbbell, a trophy and poison.

They took it one step further and actually redesigned the mansion, ...they even added some new rooms.....NEW ROOMS?!? Oh, there's now a Theater (I mean who doesn't have a home theater nowadays); a Spa (WTF?) and get this....there's a Guest House (I guess they're expecting OJ to come visit).

Oh but get this....there's even more....apparently each character has a "special power" that will help them discover clues faster, they've even added new cards called "intrigue" and "clock" that can eliminate players.

I'm very sad to see another part of my childhood fade away into the dust, as this new version is not going to be added to supplement the current version of it's going to replace it!

I just hope they still give you that little pad of paper so you can write down your answers and solve the mystery! But now we're gonna have to say "It was Kassy in the Guest House with the Poison because she was so distraught over her latest film not making $185million on it's opening weekend."

I'm gonna go cry now.

Saturday Morning TV

Since we got rid of cable earlier this year, I am now forced to watch Saturday Morning TV.....when I was a kid it was all cartoons - now it's all sit-coms for kids...I guess you could call them kid-coms!

ABC is the king of Kid-Coms, with That's So Raven (which is my most favorite), and that Suite life thing with those creepy twins that were the little kid in that Adam Sandler movie - Big Daddy......but this morning I actually watched Hannah Montana.

I know, I know, you figure that since I did that Miley Cyrus song I would be all into HM (that's what the kids call it)...but I had never really seen the show's a little strange and the whole premise is shaky to me...but I guess it makes sense to kids.

I had no idea that Miley was Hannah and the only difference is a wig, I guess it's like Superman and his glasses....people just never put two and two together, and chose to believe what they want.....

I figured that this would give me a perfect reason to post my Miley Cyrus video for you, in case you missed it before.

I just released my lip dub of Rainbow Connection by Kermit the Frog and while I was on vacation I filmed another one. It's probably going to be the best one yet!!!! So keep your eyes out for it.

Exercising Hurts!

Who knew?

Well I guess I did know, but I just didn't want to believe it.

Remember a few weeks ago when that horrid Wii Fit told me I was fat and old....well apparently since I hadn't been over to my friends house to exercise recently, the damn Wii Fit was asking about my well being!

Well I think it was more trying to antagonize me by making David call me up and say "The Wii Fit is asking if I've seen you lately because you haven't been exercising." DAMN WII FIT!

So David and I made a committment that we would start exercising on a regular basis, we already do a great job of going on walks, but we wanted to actually use the Wii Fit to exercise.

This week was the beginning of it...and all I can say is "damn, I had no idea there were so many muscles in my body I wasn't using." The Wii Fit is actually a very cool piece of equipment, we've done Yoga (who knew stretching could hurt like that) and weight training (my legs are killing me from doing lunges - I guess no boy chasing this weekend for me) and I'm still shit at doing the Hula Hoop (My hips go in an oval and not a circle).

Oh yeah, and when I stepped on the board (after being home to visit family and doing nothing but eating carnival food) the Wii Fit almost did everything except scream at me for putting on 2 pounds, it even had the gall to make me choose from a list of items the REASON why I was getting fatter. Too many snacks? Eating too much? Not exercising? Eating too fast?

I chose the "Eating too fast?" option at which point the damnable machine gave me tips on eating slower......ah the gall!

But, I feel good, I don't feel lighter and my legs hurt (and for once it's not from having them up around my shoulders)...I think we're gonna beat this exercise thing, one way or another.

I am SO out of here!!!!!

No, you haven't done anything to offend me, that's not why I'm leaving.

I'm heading off to spend some quality time with my parents and sister in Pennsylvania.

The only problems are:
- My parents don't have internet access, thus no web surfing, updating Examiner or checking email
- There is no cellphone service where my parents live, thus no having to answer the phone

But, I will probably be able to get some Text Messages out.....which means that you can follow me on

Click on either of the links to go to the respective pages to keep up with me and find out what's going on!
We'll see you next week!
p.s. Oh yeah and I'll let you in on a secret....I'm going to be working on my new Lip Dub while I'm there!

Looks 29, Acts 13, Feels 19

My best friend was able to grab a Wii Fit yesterday at Target and he brought it over so we could try it out on the big screen.

Have you tried it? It really is an amazing piece of hardware.

Before you start any of the exercises it tests your strength and balance by playing some "games" where you have to get little bars in certain places for certain periods of time. It then takes those timings (in addition to your weight and other factors) and gives you an estimation of "how old" you are. According to the Wii Fit, I am 49 years old!

The damn machine was just barely this side of calling me an old fat ass! So I guess it's time to get back to the gym.

My friend called me the other day to tell me that the Wii was asking for me. Apparently since I haven't exercised for a few days it was concerned about my well being and is afraid that I may have fallen into the freezer while retrieving some ice cream, and just wanted to make sure I was alive still.

So now that he has the Wii Fit, I want one too, but can't find one ANYWHERE! I can understand the console being difficult to find - just in relation that it is a console, but WHY can you not find an accessory (which the Wii Board is) anywhere.....I mean, come on, it's an accessory for god's sake.

Get your heads out of your butts Nintendo, just think of the revenue stream that you're missing out on.

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor - A Five Word Review

Predictible Story, Cool Special Effects

We went to see the new Brendan Fraiser movie - The Mummy - Tomb of the Dragon Emperor movie last night.

Let's just say that I knew walking into the theater that I was not going to see an Oscar winning movie/performance, and I got exactly what I was looking for.

The Mummy was predictible, but then what do you expect, there's only so many ways the story can go. The scenery and cinematography were beautiful, it's wonderful to see a landscape that you're not used to seeing in all of the other movies, the action was good (although a little contrite) and some of the dialog was poor (uhm, why did Maria Bello keep losing her English accent?) and some of the plot devices (uhm, Yeti) were a little silly and some parts (uhm, Brendan Fraisier with his shirt off, yum) were good. The one thing that I really appreciated about this movie was that after they had the first big "chase" and the Mummy was running through Shanghi and beating the crap out of the stars....the next thing they showed were the stars apply ice packs and drinking to cover up the pain of what they went through - unlike some movies that want you to think that their stars are super human.

But the movie kept me entertained throughout, you knew what was going to happen but then I would have been disappointed if something different would have happened.

This movie has been getting bad reviews - but then I don't like to listen to those guys becuase they don't know the kinds of movies that I really like, so thumbs down to them!

About 3/4 of the way through the movie, I really had to pee, but I was afraid to get up and go to the bathroom in case I missed anything (for the record, I did get up and go pee during Batman - and I loved Batman).

If you're looking for a fun Sunday afternoon movie, this is it!

The only complaint that I have about the movie, is not even with the movie itself, it's with the trailers that they showed. They were the exact same trailers that I saw last week when we went to see Batman - The Dark Knight...what's up with that AMC 12 in Evanston?
